Things to do with Atlanta with kids

Visit the Georgia Aquarium

Of course, I can’t make a list of kid-friendly things to do in Atlanta without mentioning the Georgia Aquarium.

My kids loved their time at The Georgia Aquarium. If you are visiting the city and looking for things to do, you can’t go wrong with a trip to this beautifully designed aquarium. Plan ahead and maximize your experience by knowing showtimes, using the mobile app, and considering an animal encounter.

Check out the video below to learn more about the Georgia Aquarium.

Spend Time at the Delta Flight Museum

Located moments from the busiest airport in the world is the Delta Flight Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. At one point we were the only visitors in the hangars. Imagine being a kid in a hangar with aircraft and prototypes, and simulators, oh my! My boys had a ball!

It is important that you plan ahead for your visit to the museum as they sometimes are closed for private events. You can avoid making a trip to the museum on a day that the hangers are closed by checking HERE to view their calendar prior to your visit.

Get Outdoors and Explore at Hahn Woods and Lullwater Park

The perfect off the beaten path place to take a stroll or have a picnic. Shhh… this is a little gem the locals likely don’t want you to know about. Located on the campus of Emory University, Lullwater Park is a sweet oasis with scenic trails that run the banks of a serene lake. Park at Hahn Woods and take the trail under the road toward Lullwater.

I love this place! Especially the Wildwoods and Fernbank Forrest. It’s stroller friendly!

 Centennial Olympic Park

Seated at the center of Atlanta’s thriving tourist district is Centennial Olympic Park. Kids will love the playgrounds and Fountain of Rings Splash Pad in the warmer months. The park also hosts many events throughout the year. Additionally, you’ll find a host of walkable vibrant attractions nestled around the park. Check HERE for more information including whether or not the fountains are on.

This is great! We are members at the aquarium, but haven’t really explored what else we could do while we are there. These are great options for when the aquarium is too busy! The natural history museum looks like a must. My kids would love it!

Atlanta is somewhere we have been wanting to visit with the kids! The aquarium was at the top of our list but I love that now I have a few more family-friendly places to check out!

This is a wonderful collection of fun places to visit with kids while in Atlanta. I always like reading about other family’s experiences visiting different cities. We were only in Atlanta one time, before kids, and visited Centennial Olympic Park and the World of Coca-Cola. Tasting different coke products from around the world was a neat experience! We were in Atlanta during one of our road trips and were attending an Atlanta Braves baseball game. This is the second post I’ve read that talked about the Georgia Aquarium so I’m adding that to my list of places to visit because we love aquariums, especially now with my 16 month old daughter.
