Valentine’s Day Craft Idea for Little Ones

Can you believe we’ve already made it through the first month of the new year? With that in mind, I am prepping activities for Valentine’s Day, Black History Month, and Spring.

Last week I shared a fun Valentine’s Day activity that kids can enjoy doing in celebration of the holiday. I also posted a fun Spring Scavenger Hunt for little ones to enjoy completing as they explore outdoors during the incoming season.

Today, I am sharing a simple craft that is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Today’s craft is a simple silly face heart that is put together using various scrap materials.

Make this craft in a group setting such as a classroom, or complete it at home with your own child. It’s a fun and simple project that kids will enjoy working on.

Preschool Valentine’s Craft Supplies

To make these cute silly heart faces, I used scrap pieces of craft supplies I had on hand. I used wiggle eyes, crepe paper, and felt.

You can easily use what you have available to you. Just be creative.

You can put this craft together using construction paper, paint, felt, yarn, or any of the materials you may have on hand.

How to Create the Silly Face Valentine’s Craft

I simply cut a heart shape out of empty cereal boxes. Using acrylic paint, I had each kid paint the entire heart shape in the color of their choice. We left our hearts to completely dry.

Next, we used glue sticks to attach wiggle eyes. We cut eyebrows and noses out of felt for some of the silly faces.

For the others, we shaped crepe paper into the shape of a smile and balled up small pieces of crepe paper for the nose.

At this point, the silly faces were complete, however, my daughter requested that her heart have ponytails.

As a result, we glued strips of wrinkled crepe paper to the heart to mimic hair. Finally, we made two bows out of cut pieces of felt and attached them with glue.

The kids had a good time pulling this craft together. Of course, their favorite part was painting the heart as they love painting.

I hope you try this craft with your little ones and enjoy it.
