Philly Cheesesteak Ingredients

  • Thinly Shredded Beef
  • Wonton Wraps
  • Cream Cheese
  • Peppers and Onions
  • Mushrooms
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper

Helpful Tip: Thinly sliced Ribeye is perfect for the recipe, or for a more economical option, opt for a thinly sliced roast beef from your local deli

Helpful Tip: Season your dish in layers; with a well-seasoned dish, you will never have leftovers.

Prepare the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:

Cook the Veggies: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and bell pepper with a pinch of salt and pepper until they’re soft and just starting to brown.

In our house, we love mushrooms, so they are typically added to this tasty treat. Once the veggies are done, remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the shaved beef, season with a bit more salt and pepper, and cook until the meat’s fat has caramelized and the meat is well browned.

Don’t overcook the meat; cook just until it is nice and tender.

Combine the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked veggies and beef. While the meat mixture is still hot, stir in cream cheese.

Add shredded cheese to this recipe; we love to use Monterey Jack and Swiss. Stir until everything is well combined.

Now, the most challenging part is to try not to devour the entire mixture. If any mixture has survived, this cheesy, savory, meaty mixture is your Philly cheesesteak bite filling.

Fill and Prep the Wonton Cups:

How to make wonton cups: Line your mini muffin tin with the wonton wrappers. Use the back of a spoon to press the wonton wraps in the bottom of the mini muffin tin to form a cup.

Bake the cups in a 325-degree oven for 5-7 minutes or just until brown. Take the cups out of the oven and allow them to rest for about 10 minutes.

Helpful Tip: Wetting the wonton wrappers with a small amount of water or oil makes them a lot more pliable.

Spoon about one tablespoon of the Philly cheesesteak mixture into the center of the cups and pop those soon-to-be delicious delights back into the oven.

Cooking Philly Cheesesteak Bites:

Once the wonton cups are filled, top all the cups with an extra helping of shredded cheese.

Place the Philly Cheesesteak Bites back into the oven at 375- degrees for 8-10 minutes or just until the added cheese is melted.

Helpful tip: I typically use the high bake setting or broil setting to get a more caramelized cheese on our Philly Cheesesteak Bites.

How to Serve Philly Cheesesteak Bites:

As the old saying goes, ” There is no need to defend a lion; just open the cage.” Once these delicious bites are placed on a serving tray, you will not be able to keep them stocked.

Serve your Philly Cheesesteak Bites hot with your choice of dipping sauces.

They pair wonderfully with simple garlic aioli or, like we like to do in our house, some good ol’ ketchup for a casual twist.

Tips and Tricks for making Philly Cheesesteak Bites:

  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the filling in advance and store it in the fridge for up to two days before making your bites.

The beauty of this Philly Cheesesteak Bite recipe is that it can be customized to suit your individual preferences.
