I can only think of a few other more refreshing salads than a Greek salad. A simple combination of delicious ingredients, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean.

You should add this salad to your meal rotation ASAP if you haven’t already.

Greek Salad Ingredients

If you’re looking for a salad that’s sure to please even the most die-hard carnivore, look no further than the Geek salad.

This hearty dish is packed with all the goodness of a traditional Greek salad, and each ingredient is sure to delight. The salad is a texture party of crunchy cucumber tossed with juicy tomatoes and zesty onions.

But that’s not all – the salad is also topped with crumbled feta cheese, kalamata olives, and a fantastic dressing.

Greek Salad Ingredients

Cucumber- Cucumbers are a vital ingredient in this Greek salad. They add a refreshing crunch, and their mild flavor pairs well with the other ingredients in the salad, like feta cheese and kalamata olives. Opt for English or Persian cucumbers in this recipe, as they carry the best crunch.

Kalamata Olives– This Greek salad recipe calls for Kalamata olives. These luscious black olives carry a rich flavor and firm texture, making them the perfect addition to this salad.

Plus, their delicious salty flavor pair perfectly with the sweetness of the dressing. Use pitted olives.

Tomato – Tomatoes add color and sweetness to this otherwise savory dish. Use ripe cherry tomatoes for the best flavor and texture.

Feta Cheese: In my opinion, feta is the star of this salad. Feta has a crumbly texture with a tangy, salty flavor that pairs perfectly with the crisp vegetables and bright dressing of a traditional Greek salad.

Aim for block feta over the pre-crumbled stuff. The flavor will be better.

Red Onion: The intense flavor of the thinly sliced onion is the perfect contrast to the rich, creamy feta cheese. And, of course, the color is simply beautiful.

The deep red of the onion adds a vibrancy to the salad that is just unbeatable. Add in as much or as little onions as you’d like.

Dressing: Olive oil, red wine vinegar, honey, oregano, and lemon juice combine to dress this salad. You can add salt and pepper to taste, but I find it unnecessary to add salt as the kalamata olives and feta add the needed saltiness to this dish.
